For Mohammad Aneez Khan, better known as ‘Aneez’ on the tracks, cars are not only his passion but his daily income as well.
Mr Khan is the Director of Niz Rentals which makes him one of those lucky people to enjoy his love for vehicles while running a business at the same time at the young age of 25.
His strong passion for cars initiated when he was little and was inspired by his father.
“He (my father) used to take me around in his car and it was then when I started developing my interest,” Mr Khan said.
Currently he drives a FX GT A82 model Corolla vehicle which helped him win an award at the Fiji Car Club organised drag wars.
Sun Wheels caught up with this young businessman who not only loves motor sports but aims to improve his time to win more upcoming competitions.
When asked about his thoughts on motor racing he said the sport is increasing as there is more responsiveness coming up about such events.
“There is more awareness when it comes to racing nowadays. For example the Fiji Car Club hosting drag races on the tracks rather than taking it out on the streets.
“This way drivers who like racing can prove themselves during these types of events,” he said.
Not so long ago, he used to race using a Toyota Levin before he sold it for his Corolla a few months back and uses it as a special project to work on for refurbishment.
“I have spent approximately $6500 on this car. Most parts are locally available while some I had to order from my friend in New Zealand,” he said.
So far, Mr Khan has added a 4age 20v black top engine which took him more than a month to install and modify.
Mr Khan races at a maximum speed limit of 160km/h. So far he is sitting on 15.24 seconds and will be pushing to hit 13 seconds in his next race.
