There are now more options for those intending to buy sporting garments in Suva. Tau Sports Limited has opened a shop in Waimanu Road, next to RC Nathubhai, boasting locally-made products under its supporting banner of Fijian Made.
Managing director A V Gnanarajah, otherwise known as Rajah, has invested close to $0.5 million into opening up the shop and getting all the appropriate garments.
Mr Rajah is originally from Sri Lanka but moved here 17 years ago to work in management for another garment factory.
After dedicating his time there, he thought it befitting to open his own small garment factory with a focus on sporting garments.
But more recently, given the demand of school uniforms in the country, Mr Rajah is now dedicating his business into uniform-making too assuring quality and consistency in his products.
“We are a manufacturer of Tau brand and Tau brand is locally-made and locally-designed. So this year we’re also targeting school uniforms,” Mr Rajah said.
“Our main aim is to manufacture everything locally and to give a good price and quality products to the Fijian people. So we always support Fijian Made products.”
“Our manufacturing outlet is located at Raojibhai Patel Street with 50 employees. We’ve got an outlet in Nadi and one in Samoa.”
The new Suva outlet is the biggest one so far. Mr Rajah employs around 50 people in the garment factory and is keen on employing more people in future.
“We want to create a lot of employment to the people. So we’ve ventured into school uniforms so that we can generate more employment to manufacture the garments.”
