Vodafone Fiji has yet again shown its commitment towards supporting Sydney Adventist’s healthcare outreach- Operation Open Heart.
The team are in Fiji once again to offer free medical surgery to patients suffering from cardiac problems.
The team consisting of volunteer doctors, nurses and health technicians arrived in the country last Saturday with their equipment and will go on a 10-day operation schedule at the CWM Hospital.
To help assist their work as far as communications is concerned Vodafone Fiji has provided a telecommunications kit from mobile phones accompanied with free airtime and flashnet.
Vodafone Fiji Corporate Affairs and Value Added Services head Shailendra Prasad said: “This is part of our commitment to the community where we try and engage with the agencies and overseas organisations who have taken the time to help the communities.”
“The reason we’re doing this is, to lend our support as a corporate organisation in Fiji. They have come as far as Australia for them to help save lives is such is commendable.”
Operation Open Heart project coordinator Melani Sindus said: “We are very grateful to Vodafone for assisting us because this donation in kind will surely go a long way for the team.”
The team have conducted surgery for about 700 patients in Fiji during their visits.
