This is how the president of the CPA Australia Fiji-Branch, Ravendran Achari, described the congress. It will be held from August 22 to 24 at the Sheraton Fiji Resort on Denarau Island.
In attendance are expected to be around 400 delegates who are a mixture of business leaders, professionals and accountants.
“CPA is not just a stamp of professional accomplishment but also a hallmark of leadership, strategic and commercial excellence,” Mr Achari said.
This year’s theme is: “Leadership: Be Heard, Be Recognised”.
Mr Achari said they chose this theme given their view that Fiji is poised to compete in this global evolving environment.
“This environment provides a unique opportunity for Fiji and the organisations to take charge and the lead as well,” he said.
“This year’s theme allows the programme to provide our members examples of leadership, looking at the opportunities that can be seized and capitalised on.”
Meanwhile, Vodafone and Westpac, yesterday handed over a cheque of $60,000 as their sponsorship of $30,000 each.
Vodafone director of corporate and business marketing, Ronald Prasad, assured of their continued support for forums of this nature.
“It gives a wonderful platform for people to come in and build networks,” he said.
Westpac Fiji general manager, Adrian Hughes, believes this is going to be the most successful CPA event ever if the programme is any indication.
“Westpac is involved because we recognise the unique relationship which exists between a banker and an accountant. We have a common goal to provide the best service and advise to our customers,” he said.
“It’s important for leaders to realise that they are part of the big picture rather than being the big picture.
“A leader’s role is to institutionalise a culture of success within their organisation through their people.
“For this, there is a requirement to act with energy and passion to continually seek to improve themselves and their people. This congress is an excellent opportunity to learn.”
