Long time Pacific Harbour resident and tourism industry identity, David Voss, is the new president of the Pacific Harbour Tourism Association.
And he and his new-look executive team have taken on the role with big plans to promote Fiji’s pioneer integrated tourism destination.
It comes amidst major Papua New Guinea investment revitalising Pacific Harbour’s biggest resort, the Pearl South Pacific Resort, marina and championship golf course.
Also serious American investment into fast developing the nearby Taunovo Bay luxury resort and residential property on the site of what had been the financially-troubled Nanuku Bay project.
Mr Voss is no stranger in the tourism industry and has been a key player in Destination Suva and founder and driving force behind the successful Bula Fiji Tourism Exchange. This has now been superseded by Tourism Fiji’s Fijian Tourism Expo.
Mr Voss was also longtime managing director and operator of Hertz rentals in Fiji.
Mr Voss and five other new office bearers were elected the past month following the association’s annual general meeting.
Mr Voss believes there is a need to promote Pacific Harbour as a tourism destination internationally and locally.
He confirmed they are working on opening an office for the association as currently they are operating from an individual’s residence.
The association welcomes both local and international persons as visitors and is also working closely with Fiji Airways and Tourism Fiji to promote Pacific Harbour.
One of the ways of attracting more visitors is utilising the international golf course which belongs to The Pearl South Pacific Resort, Spa.
“We have an international golf course that will be organising monthly competitions,” he said.
“We have an abundance of activities that is open to everyone and we welcome local participation.
“We are also planning monthly ROC markets at the Arts Village to encourage and to support and encourage triathlon events.”
