New special 30% discount unveiled in a bid to listen to public request for cheaper prices

Fiji Airways has responded to requests for cheaper domestic fares by introducing an offer for Fijians only.
The national airline yesterday unveiled a unique fare deal for Fijians only for travel within Fiji and much of its South Pacific network.
The announcement was made as part of the national carrier’s series of initiatives rolled out to mark its first birthday. The special fare is an additional 30 per cent discount off the lowest available fare level for flights between Nadi, Suva, Labasa, Savusavu, Taveuni, and Kadavu.
These special fares are available for all Fijian citizens with proof of citizenship (passport or birth certificate) required at the airport check-in.
The “Gift for Fijians” special fares are available for purchase for the next three months and then travel after date of purchase right up to November 30.
Fiji Airways Group managing director/chief executive, Stefan Pichler, said: “It’s an exciting period for us as we celebrate one-year of a new, strong and successful Fiji Airways.
“And on our first birthday, we thought what better way to share the moment with our most important stakeholders – the people of Fiji.
“What’s new and very attractive about today’s birthday gift is that we have never had a fare offer with such a long and flexible booking period and travel window.
“Of course seats with these low fares are limited on every flight and some black-out periods like on peak days apply.
“But, this is a great and unique opportunity for all Fijians wishing to explore or visit family and friends in Fiji and the South Pacific.”
Listening to request
Mr Pichler said they noted the public requests for lower domestic fares.
“It is important to note that our domestic operations unfortunately are not profitable at all. In reality, we lose money on the domestic flights,” he said.
“But, on this very special occasion, we just wanted to give back to the Fijian what we think should be a moral obligation.”
The birthday sale starts today on all flights. Limited seats are available on all flights and will be sold on first-come first-served basis.
