Since the inception of the Fijian Host award, which recognises the hard work of frontliners at the Nadi International Airport, 21 frontliners have been awarded.
Yesterday, five were awarded by the Tourism Permanent Secretary Elizabeth Powell for the awards from January to May.
Ms Powell also announced that a Fijian Host sports week has been scheduled from July 14 to 19.
“The theme for this will be Fijian Hosts Make a Difference. Details on this will be released shortly,” she said.
The Tourism Ministry, in partnership with Starwood Resorts Fiji, and eight airport agencies initiated this programme.
This was to raise awareness of the important contribution of the Nadi Airport staff and to provide incentives for service improvements through training and recognition.
The partner agencies include Airports Fiji Limited, Fiji Revenue & Customs Authority, the Department of Immigration, Air Terminal Services, Ministry of Health, Biosecurity Authority of Fiji, TYCO Security, and the Border Police.
Through the Fijian Hosts Programme, Nadi International Airport frontline staff are trained and incentivised to continue to improve their demonstration of Fijian hospitality to welcome both visitors to our shores and our own friends and family back home.
