The Ministry of Youth & Sports Youth Entrepreneur Award will be presented to company owned by a youth entrepreneur between the ages of 15 – 35 years.
It recognises the contribution made by young enterprises to the local economy and would be presented to the youth who has excelled in Fiji’s business environment.
Further, the recipient would have made an impact on the Fijian economy at a young age.
It was announced at awards launch at the Grand Pacific Hotel last night.
Investment Fiji executive chairman, Truman Bradley said the Reserve Bank of Fiji’s statistics showing positive growth trends, the export industry’s contribution played a huge role in it.
“This year marks 22 years of celebrating export excellence on the Investment Fiji calendar,” Mr Bradley noted.
“With what started twenty two years ago this has grown into one of the largest award functions in Fiji.”
He acknowledged Westpac Fiji for their commitment in showing their support.
“Special gratitude goes to Westpac which has secured sole naming rights to the Event and we congratulate Westpac for this commitment.
“In addition, it is my pleasure to announce to all our young entrepreneurs. This year we have an award for you and a big vinaka vakalevu to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for coming on board to sponsor this category.
“To you, the category award sponsors, hats off again for all coming on board this year. You are the wheels driving this Event to mark the 22 years of export excellence in Fiji.”
Attorney-General and Minister for Industry and Trade, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said it was important for Government to facilitate business in whatever way it could.
And events as such would help drive the private sector to greater heights and move the economy up as well.
Major sponsor, Westpac Fiji doubled its financial support to $60,000 securing for the third consecutive year naming rights for the awards.
