SUVA
The capital’s growing night life culture and the demand for authentic delicacies has prompted owners of a renowned restaurant to open restaurants in Suva.
Saffron Tandoori Restaurant and Mamacita Restaurant Food & Bar are opening side by side on the top floor of Damodar City Centre on Grantham Road.
The brands are operations of Jack’s of Fiji Group. Saffron and Mamacita complement two different eating and drinking cultures.
Saffron Restaurant is focused on fine dining with the unique authentic Indian dishes and as well as local flavours while Mamacita is focussed on Mexican dishes with more casual and fun-filled environment.
Jack’s of Fiji Restaurants general manager/executive chef, Brendon Coffey, said: “We’ve got something that will appeal very much to the local market and the corporate market.
“The thing is that Suva has come alive. The demand for dining out for quality in varied restaurants is increasing.
“People want more quality and eating out more often so we’re tying our social life and our family life and working into one.”
While he did not wish to disclose investment figures, Mr Coffey said, the restaurants were up to international standards and also with the services the staff would offer.
He added the operations were separate but a conjoined space between the two would cater as private dining rooms and private events for hire by either restaurant customers.
Saffron/Mamacita, Suva restaurant manager, Sandeep Prasad, said the space is ideal even for meetings with available technical equipment for client convenience.
The room can either seat a maximum of 40 people for a combined or halved if there are two events going on, he said.
