Names of finalists for two award categories of the 2013 AON Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards has been announced by the trustees of the organising committee.
Pacific Sun, Fiji Airways’ regional and domestic subsidiary, delivered its best on-time performance in the past eight months in April.
It reported 96 per cent compared to 93.6 per cent in March and 92.8 per cent in February.
Meanwhile, despite one of the Airbus A330s being out of service for the better part of April, Fiji Airways also reported improved on-time performance.
For April, it reported an on-time performance of 87.8 per cent, compared to 87.6 per cent in March and 82.7 per cent in February.
Fiji Airways managing director/chief executive, Stefan Pichler, said the results of April were generally better than expected, as one of their A330s was out of service until the 24.
“Even with that, our operational team managed to minimise disruptions as best as we could,” he said.
Mr Pichler said Pacific Sun, soon to be Fiji Link, continues its sterling performance and full credit to the team for this amazing result of 96 per cent.
“By any international aviation standards, this is a spectacular result,” he said.
On-time performance is a global airline industry benchmark which measures aircraft flight departures as being on time if they depart from the gate within 15 minutes of the airline’s scheduled departure time.
