Cloud storage is taking over as more and more businesses and people shift their storage towards Cloud technology.
Digicel Fiji head of ICT Business Solutions, Craig Smith, spoke on this issue to us in more detail.
“Whilst March officially marked the end of the cyclone season for another year, it did not pass without late season mixed fortunes,” he said.
“A major Tropical Depression wound its way slowly across the country causing devastation, and disruption throughout the Central and  Eastern regions.
“The financial toll from this storm alone has been estimated at US$6 million, including crop losses and disablement of road systems which sustain life and commerce for thousands of small people and businesses.
“This was shortly followed by the final ‘dodged bullet’ in the form of TC Lusi – which slid silently and violently between Fiji to the west – reminding us of the ever present threat of natural disasters to our livelihood in the South Pacific.”

Statistically speaking, Fiji has recorded in excess of 33 floods and 37 tropical cyclones in the last 25 years.

Mr Smith feels for business owners and operators across the region, the reality is that natural disasters form only one part of a threat preparation matrix, in ensuring operationsremain as uninterrupted as possible.
“Electrical fires unfortunately continue to be an all too common event across Fiji, with sudden and destructive impacts,” he said.
