Digicel Fiji chief executive, Maurice McCarthy, is moving forward with a promotion as Regional chief executive for Tonga, Nauru, Fiji, Vanuatu and Samoa.
This was confirmed by Digicel Fiji Public Relations & Sponsorship manager, Satish Narain.
As an appointment for a new Fijian chief executive is still being advertised closing tomorrow, Mr McCarthy will stay on his former position until the appointment.
“Interviews will be done before an appointment is done. Till that time, Maurice will still look after the Fijian business,” Mr Narain said.
Mr Narain added Mr McCarthy’s will be based in Suva with his new appointment.
Meanwhile, Fiji Sun had been tipped off that Digicel PNG chief operating officer, Darren Mclean, was already been appointed as the new chief for Fiji.
However, Mr Narain maintained no appointment has been made as yet.
He said a formal press release will be sent once an appointment is confirmed.
Mr Narain highlighted: “He (Mr McCarthy) has been a stalwart of the Fijian business for almost five years.
“Prior to that appointment, he was COO (chief operating officer) having started with Digicel Fiji as Sales and Distribution director.
“He has displayed excellent leadership skills and his personal commitment and dedication has been fundamental to driving the growth of the Fiji business.”
