The Tanoa Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka will officially open its New Executive Wing tomorrow, raising the level of accommodation in the Sugar City. The new wing comprises 20 executive rooms and suites.
The announcement was made by Tanoa Hotel Group area general manager Fiji and Samoa, Mathew Gillespie, during a cocktail event at the Tanoa Plaza in Suva on Friday.
Mr Gillespie said: “The new executive wing takes the hotel to just shy of 100 rooms, a major investment in the Lautoka market as well as raising the bar.
“Hotel manager Narend Kumar and his team have been working very hard in putting the final touches on these rooms, and interest from our guests is also very high.”
Mr Gillespie highlighted there was huge focus on training and development of Tanoa staff to keep customer expectations high.

Cocktail
Of the cocktail, Mr Gillespie said: “This event was the nature of the hotel company to meet with its clients face-to-face in somewhat informal settings because there was a strong relationship between us and many of our clients.
“Obviously there will always be a strong commercial aspect to our meetings and conversations, but many of our business relationships are so long standing that they go beyond this.
“It is always great for us to get together with our clients, and not just our Hotel Managers, but other members of our teams.”

AON win
Meanwhile Tanoa Plaza Hotel was the first hotel in Suva to receive an award during the AON Fiji Excellence in Tourism Award in the Accommodation Quality category.
Mr Gillespie praised the hotel’s general manager, Mere Rakoroi, with her team and gave them due recognition during the event.
He said: “Mere has worked very hard with her team over the last few years, and the recognition is both timely and well deserved.
“Mere, as a young female Fijian hospitality professional has always set very ambitious targets for herself and her team, both in terms of business and guest satisfaction, and it was a very proud moment for all of us in the Tanoa Hotel Group when Mere held the trophy aloft.”
