Airbus A330 touched down hard last week in sydney, Stefan pichler explains

Fiji Airways has launched a full investigation into a hard landing of one of its flights to Sydney last week.
And, the captain responsible of the hard landing has been grounded till results of the investigation is tabled.
Managing director/chief executive Stefan Pichler said: “We have started a full internal investigation to conclude the full circumstances of the hard landing in Sydney.

“Until the result of this investigation is established, the Captain has been grounded.
“Once we have the results of this investigation, we will be able to draw conclusions which will then lead to the necessary management decisions.”
Airbus A330, registration DQ-FJV performing flight FJ-911 from Nadi to Sydney, landed on Sydney’s runway 34L on schedule but touched down hard producing vertical acceleration.

No further incident
The aircraft rolled out without further incident and taxied to the apron.
The aircraft departed Sydney one hour behind schedule for its return flight FJ-910 and reached Nadi without further incident.
The Aviation Herald reported that: “Examination in Nadi however found substantial overstress damage to the landing gear, an assessment which landing gear struts need to be replaced is still ongoing, it is not being ruled out as of March 25, 2014 that all gear struts need to be replaced. The aircraft is still on the ground in Nadi.”
