Excavation work has started on the much-awaited casino site. While workers present did not wish to reveal the extent of work undertaken.
They did however, inform the Fiji Sun that One Hundred Sands Limited’s representatives are arriving into the country on Monday from the United States. One Hundreds Sands won the licence to develop and run the casino.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, one of the worker’s said: “We cannot tell anything further. The owners are arriving into Fiji on Monday.”
Questions emailed to Larry Claunch, the chairman of the company remained unanswered. The company, however, has till date paid the monthly fine for not meeting licence obligations.
Work on the site started this week.
Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said further information will be available next week.
