The Bank South Pacific has launched a new VISA Debit Card for ordinary Fijians.
BSP country manager Fiji, Kevin McCarthy, said the debit card allows customers to access their funds from anywhere at any time through the convenience of VISA.
“It’s a new product for BSP and it has undergone extensive testing to make sure that it works well especially when travelling overseas,” he said.
“Significant investment was made on this product especially getting it VISA- badged through a lengthy certification process.
“When travelling or when you use the card locally, you are using and managing your own funds.
“The beauty of it is that it doesn’t have a credit criterion but to be involved there is a $35 annual fee.”
BSP Group chief executive, Robin Fleming, said the Debit Card had been introduced in Papua New Guinea about six years ago and it has been successful.
“We have a different core banking system in Fiji, than in PNG and Solomon Islands so it’s taken us a little bit longer to get the proper enhancements done in Fiji’s system,” Mr Fleming said.
It is convenient for online and EFTPOS payment solutions.
