Upgrades, new helicopters, seaplanes and hangar

Pacific Island Air is anticipating an exciting year ahead with major plans for upgrades, new helicopters, new seaplanes and a new hangar to begin with.
In its first newsletter for this year, the company indicating heavy investments by the owners who have shown enthusiasm and optimism for the future of tourism in Fiji.
To begin with, Pacific Island Air’s new Beaver seaplane is due to arrive in Nadi this month from Canada.
Their old beaver was sent to Canada for a complete overhaul and the repaint has been described by the company as fantastic.
“We are very excited to see it back to our shores again very soon,” the company said in the newsletter.
VIP airport facilitation
Pacific Island Air will also be soon introducing a VIP airport facilitation service assuring a speedy immigration through checks.
“We aspire to have you through within five minutes of landing if you are a business class passenger and 15 minutes if you are an economy class passenger,” it said.
“Just let us know at the time of booking you require this service and all will be arranged. The cost for this is FJ$100 per person.”
New services
Pacific Island Air also has good news for holiday makers staying at Plantation, Lomani, Musket Cove and Mana.
It’s Islander Planes with seat capacity of eight passengers, will begin operations shortly costing about $176 per person.
Pacific Island Air will also begin weekly seaplane service to Qamea and Tavueni next month.
Flights are planned to operate on a Tuesday from/to Nadi.
New appointment
Pacific Island Air has also appointed Nick Heyninck from Canada as its chief seaplane pilot.
“He is looking forward to getting our and about and meeting all resort staff and clients,” the company said.
“Congratulations to Isoa Liwaiono who has been appointed as Assistance Sakes Manager (Fiji).
“Isoa is the first point of contact for brochures and information and he will be keeping everyone up-to-date at the resorts of any new developments.”
