The construction of the Denarau Island Convention Centre at the Sheraton Fiji Resort is said to be on track to finish by end of next month.
The purposely built permanent structure at the resort would be accessed via undercover walkway to the resort’s existing ballroom pre-function area and lobby.
Denarau Island Convention Centre would become the largest event space on Denarau Island in Nadi with a capacity of 1200 seated guests.
The Convention Centre will aim to attract larger conventions and exhibitions to Fiji from Australia, New Zealand, USA and Asia.
Director of sales and marketing, Paul Yui, said: “The key attribute will be having a venue with the capacity to host large local, regional and international gatherings enabling a greater scope of events for Fiji.”
Denarau Island Convention Centre will play host to one of its first big events in May 2014, the Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE).
Tourism Fiji will deliver a uniquely Fijian tourism experience for international buyers of tourism products by showcasing all that the tourism industry in Fiji has to offer.
