One of the biggest nominees in the upcoming 2013 AON Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards is the Tanoa Properties of Reddy Group.
Tanoa International Hotel, Tanoa Waterfront Hotel and Tanoa Plaza Hotel are finalists list for the Accommodation Quality category while Tanoa Rakiraki Hotel is finalist in Accommodation Budget category.
Matthew Gillespie – Area General Manager Fiji & Samoa – Tanoa Hotel Group said it was humbling to have the four Tanoa Hotels shortlisted as finalists.
“These nominations mean that what we are doing as a company, our strategies, our people development policies, our customer focus policies are working,” Mr Gillespie said.
“They are successful. It means, to us at least, that we are following our mandate set by Mr. YP Reddy, of having the best 3 and 4 star properties in Fiji.”
“To us it means we are being successful in the markets we have chosen to operate in.”
Like for many properties in Fiji, 2013 was also a challenging year for the Tanoa Hotel Group.
Mr Gillespie said: “We all know the impact Cyclone Evan had on the hospitality industry. The Tanoa Hotel Group was thankfully spared major damage during this terrible natural disaster.
“The hotels did perform well, the result of considerable hard work by all of our people.
“Our Hotel Managers can be, and are, very proud of their teams’ many achievements, be those internally within the company, or the great successes we experienced at both the National Salon Culinaire and the National Convention on Quality.”
2014 promises to be another busy year for the group, both within Fiji and elsewhere around the region.
Expansion
The 20-room expansion project at the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel, Lautoka is almost complete. This will take the hotel to 92 rooms, an increase of 28 per cent.
“Recent meetings with the directors of the company are leading us to look at significant investment in guest room enhancement at several of our Fijian properties this year,” Mr Gillespie said.
“The hospitality industry is a highly competitive industry. We all face similar challenges, from Marketing to Recruitment.
“The Tanoa Hotel Group in Fiji faces the same challenges that our fellow operators in this industry face. However there is a confidence in the industry.
“For ourselves – we are a strong and trusted brand within the Pacific and within the markets we choose to operate in.
“We have excellent people working in the group which allows us to face challenges head on – to ensure that we always rise to the occasion and are successful.”
In Fiji, Tanoa properties have 389 guest rooms in total.
