Pacific Transport Ltd (West) is awaiting installation of E-ticketing machines on 42 buses which service the Western Division in Lautoka and Nadi.
So far three buses of the company’s fleet in the West have been installed with e-ticketing machines and are cooperating to get the 42 remaining buses upgraded.
West Manager Pacific Transport Ltd Jaswant Kumar said that technicians did install three machines and are waiting for more machines.
“The 42 buses will be installed with the new machines over the coming weeks and as far as installation is concerned, that depends on Foneology,” he said.
“Commuters have had problems with drivers saying they don’t have cash and want them to use their e-ticketing cards.
“The delay in installation is not our problem as there are so many bus companies which are also waiting for the new machines.
“Land Transport Authority has given us additional grace period and we hope to meet the deadline and avoid fines,” said Mr Kumar.
Meanwhile, Foneology Director James Trusler has confirmed technicians have been deployed to parts of the West to meet installation demand.
Land Transport Authority has extended the grace period till May 17.
