The Reserve of Fiji recently launched its charity arm – ‘HEART to HART’ – under its Sports and Social Club aimed at sharing the spirit of the festive season.
This initiative is part of the central bank’s 40th Anniversary where they give back to the community.
The first two executions was visiting Vesida HART home just before Christmas.
They provided supplies to the homes as well as provisional supplies to the CWM Hospital, Maternity Ward.
The Vesida HART (Housing Assistance Relief Trust) homes were identified by surveys of the least visited community provided by the HART Fiji.
Reserve Bank’s chief manager Risk Management and Communications, Lorraine Seeto, told of how the experience was unlike any other.
“With 40 boxes of groceries, clothes and gifts for 30 children within the Vesida HART community, it was a journey never to be forgotten by many of us,” Ms Seeto said.
“There are about 100 steps downhill to conquer before one gets to the community hall. But to do that numerous times is certainly a good work out!”
Officials from the central bank shared fellowship with the residents and sang Christmas carols.
“It was an experience that will remain with us as the residents of Vesida were truly grateful and appreciative of the gesture,” Ms Seeto said.
The visit to the Maternity Ward resulted in similar sentiments.
The central bank also donated a fridge, microwave, toaster, bowls, plates, mugs and tea towels to the Maternity Ward of the CWM Hospital in late December.
“For this project, the Bank (RBF) co-ordinated with officials from the Maternity Ward to ascertain the needs of the ward.”
